India just got 10,000 more hotel rooms

Real estate developers and hospitality majors Emaar MGF, DLF, The Claridges Hotels and Resorts and the InterContinental Hotels Group all announcing plans to open hotels across the country, adding 10,000 rooms in the next three to five years. India is today facing a shortage of 1,50,000 hotel rooms. Estimates are that over the next two years about 70,000-80,000 rooms will be added in the country, while the addition over the next five years will be over 200,000 rooms.

Doors and window planks made of human faeces instead of wood has become a possibility! Sulabh International has succeeded in developing a strong raw material out of human waste. Mexico-based designers Santiago Sierra and Mariana David have designed doors out it. The doors have been put on display at the Lisson Art Gallery of London. The exhibition of these human excreta-based doors was inaugurated on November 29.

Akruti City net at Rs 72 cr

The Real Estate Developer has posted a net profit of Rs 72.1 crore for the quarter ending December 31, 2007 on a top-line of Rs 131 crore in the same quarter.

» Omaxe Q3 net profit at Rs 154.16 crore
Omaxe Ltd posted a net profit of Rs 154.16 crore and a total revenue of Rs 678.22 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007. For the same period, the standalone profit stood at Rs 123.09 crore.

» Ansal net profit rises to Rs 49 cr
The Delhi-based real estate firm has reported a profit of Rs 48.91 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007, up 22% from a profit of Rs 40.19 crore in the corresponding quarter of last year.
